WEEK ONE – Audition Basics:  Learn how to select and perfect the right audition song, practice cold reading, learn dance audition basics, get lessons in confidence and workshop an audition monologue.   This first week will end with a mock audition in front of a professional panel.

WEEK TWO – Showcase Performance Prep:  Take what you learned in Week One and create a musical theatre showcase!  Continue to work on your solo to get it performance ready and learn how to perform with a duet partner and/or small group numbers.  This second week will end with a showcase performance for your family and friends.

Participants will spend time looking carefully at how films are constructed through elements such as lighting, sound, movement, and performance, and how specific filmmaking techniques create specific audience responses. Along with examining popular screenplays, this experience offers chances to create original scenes and storyboards. Introduction to Film and Screenwriting gives beginning students the opportunity to think about, talk about, and write about film.  Taught by Charter Arts Literary Arts faculty member, Heath Mensher. Open to children entering 7th– 9th grades.  This workshop is part of Charter Arts’ Summer Academy, a program of enrichment workshops that is open to the community.
