Spend your Saturday night with us! We’ll start out with tapas, treats, and music in the Commons Cafe at 6 pm, and then move into the main theatre at 7 pm for an encore performance of Vanishing Point, A New Musical. Playwright Rob Hartmann described the production as an “outpouring of love on stage.” The comedy-fantasy centers around the lives of Aviatrix Amelia Earhart, evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson and author Agatha Christie who each vanished mysteriously: Agatha disappeared for eleven days; Aimee disappeared for three weeks, and of course Amelia vanished completely. The show, food, and drinks are included in the ticket price of $20 for adults and $10 for kids/teens; all proceeds benefit theatre programs.

For Parents/Guardians- FAFSA, Financial Aid, Scholarships

Greetings! The School Counseling Department is hosting a two-part seminar series this September designed specifically to prepare the Class of 2020 for their lives after graduation from Charter Arts.  As a senior and especially if your post-graduation plans include applying to a community college or a four-year college/university, these two seminars are for you!

One of our goals as a School Counseling Department is to offer these two seminars in advance of college application deadlines and the opening of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) filing window.  The first seminar is designed to target how one should navigate the college application process and the second on how one applies for financial aid and scholarships. Please reserve the following dates in your calendars to join us for these two seminars:

Seminar #1

Thursday September 12, 2019 @ 7pm in the Commons Cafe

It’s Time: Applying to College

Presenters: Mrs. Stephanie Covelle, Mr. Shawn Hazim, and Ms. Kyra Naugle

Seminar #2

Thurssday September 26, 2019 @ 7pm in the Commons Cafe

An Evening About the FAFSA, Financial Aid, and Scholarships

Presenters: Mrs. Stephanie Covelle and Mr. Michael Burke (Access Partner with PHEAA)

The first seminar, It’s Time: Applying to College plans to cover the following topics:

  • Using Naviance/Family Connection
  • The Common Application
  • Application Requirements (i.e. SAT, SAT IIs, ACT, and AP exam scores)
  • Official Transcripts and sending them to colleges
  • The Application Essay
  • Recommendation Letters
  • Campus Visits and Admissions Interviews
  • Artistic Auditions and Portfolio Reviews

The second seminar, An Evening About the FAFSA, Financial Aid and Scholarships presentation agenda includes:

  • The online FAFSA application
  • The CSS Profile
  • Merit-based scholarships and private scholarships
  • Glossary of financial aid terms

The School Counseling Department of Charter Arts and in partnership with Mr. Michael Burke of PHEAA welcome you to these two events and trust that you will find them informative and relevant.  Please note that the FAFSA filing window opens on October 1st; therefore, we have planned this presentation to equip you with the knowledge to file the FAFSA and successfully meet deadlines for institution-based aid.  We hope to see all of you at both seminar presentations. Students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Finally, best wishes to each and every senior in their final year at Charter Arts!
