Matinee Performance: May 16 at 2pm
Morris R. Williams Center for the Arts, Lafayette College
Concert Director, Kimberly Maniscalco, defines Quilt as, “An eclectic and colorful performance of professional quality that beautifully highlights the varied talents of our students and faculty.”
Quilt is the culminating event of a year- long rehearsal and performance course. All dance students audition for and are placed with a member of the Charter Arts dance faculty who will create original concert length work or restage existing choreography. Students are educated and involved, in numerous ways, casting through performance, in the creative process of making a dance, producing a dance concert, and participating as performers. Students also have the opportunity to audition for guest choreographers whose rehearsals are held after school.
Students from the pop/jazz repertoire classes will be featured playing a variety of different styles from a variety of different artists! The Advanced Combo will also perform. The concert will also feature a few Seniors performing their Senior piece.
The Instrumental Showcase will feature Seniors performing their Senior piece and for some, this marks their last performance at Charter Arts.

Charter Arts sends their first ever team to the Odyssey of the Mind Competition!
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) is an international competition that provides open-ended problems that teams of 5-7 students answer in the form of an 8-minute skit. Problems range from building mechanical devices to presenting the team’s own interpretation of literary classics. The Charter Arts team will be presenting the “Pandora’s Box” problem. The team will put a video game spin on the story of Pandora’s Box.
Team members are responsible for writing the script, making the costumes and building the set(s), all within the problem specifications and budget. Additionally, each team will be presented with a spontaneous problem on the day of competition. These problems are verbal and/or hands-on problems.
The competition will be held at the Pocono Mountain West High School on Saturday, March 14th. Exact competition time for Charter Arts is TBD.
(This posting will be updated with the time once received.)
